Another summer month in Denver means another month filled with arts, entertainment, professional development, networking events, food and more. Whether you prefer family-friendly fun on the weekend or grabbing a beer with like-minded professionals after work, the Mile High City hosts thousands of events, offering something for everyone to take advantage of.

Each month, we try to highlight all of the awesome stuff happening in and around Denver for members of our community, and August is no exception. The city is teeming with fun — and productive — things to do, from food truck gatherings to outdoor festivals, lunch-and-learns and more, Denver is the place to be!

Civic Center EATS

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (excluding Aug. 8, 29, and 30)

Denver’s annual summer lunch tradition is back for its 13th year! Denver’s largest gathering of gourmet food trucks, Civic Center EATS 2018 showcases more than 80 diverse vendors. With more than 20 options available each day, employees, residents and visitors are able to enjoy a wonderful lunch while taking in the Civic Center’s architectural, horticultural and historic beauty. In addition to lunch, attendees will experience live music from local artists. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Civic Center Conservancy, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring, enhancing and activating Civic Center Park.

Union Station Buskerfest

Aug. 10-12

Celebrating a tradition of live street art and performance in the Mile High City, Buskerfest brings fire performers, musicians, face painters, hula-hoopers, jugglers and other buskers to the Plaza at Union Station for a weekend of family entertainment and fun! Featuring street performers, live bands, film screenings, face-painters, interactive workshops and a scavenger hunt at Union Station, Buskerfest brings the living tradition of busking and street theatre to Denver residents of all ages.

RVC Summer Pitchfest

Aug. 14, 5 to 8 p.m.

As a a hotbed for innovation and entrepreneurship, Denver is home to many promising companies. Featuring eight early-stage, investment-ready Colorado companies pitching to a crowd of over 40 percent accredited investors, RVC Summer Pitchfest celebrates the art of the angel investor/venture capital pitch. Investors have the opportunity to meet entrepreneurs in a casual networking environment and see great pitches firsthand. Leadership Skills: Emotional Intelligence For Success

Aug. 14, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

According to research, some 71 percent of hiring managers value emotional intelligence in an employee over IQ. In order to become a better employee — and to improve your leadership skills — this interactive session allows attendees to learn key emotional intelligence skills like self-awareness, presence and empathetic listening with a focus on critical communication skills that are mandatory for anyone on a team that works on complex projects. Tap Into Tech: Data Science & Data Analytics

Aug. 21, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

With technology advancing at an unprecedented rate around the globe, new opportunities to take advantage of technological advances present themselves across a wide range of industries and roles. Join this event for a panel discussion featuring several experienced data scientists and data analysts conversing about how you can leverage technology to your benefit in the data science and data analytics fields.

Learn To Lead

Aug. 23, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Being a boss and being a leader can be two completely different things. This event will not only teach you the difference, it will discuss how to inspire and manage a team, different leadership styles, how individual values affect our mindset when managing a team, the difference in coaching and advising and so much more. Attendees will come away with a plan to improve their leadership skills — no matter where they are in their career. Join General Assembly and SheSays for a panel discussion and workshop to get new insights and practical advice as well as to ask any questions you may have.
