THRIVE: Tell us about what your company does.
NICK: We Place Happy People Into Happy Homes! Happy Homes exists to make the real estate purchase, sale, and investment process simplified, easier to manage, and with a white glove touch. With connections in almost every major industry we can connect or handle everything from renovation through moving, organizing, and sale. Plus, we know everyone has a complex situation and we specialize in the potentially difficult. By approaching real estate with creative solutions, we’ve been able to place people into homes, that were told no or not now by others in the industry.
THRIVE: How long have you been in business?
NICK: We were established in 2021.
THRIVE: What inspired you to create your business?
NICK: I worked in the vacation rental industry selling software. After hearing about the experience a few of my friends had, I felt like I could combine my tech and classical sales background into a full-service and shining real estate experience drastically different from what I felt was currently out there.
THRIVE: What was your biggest success in the past year?
NICK: I had a nurse approach me who was incredibly hard working, but early enough in her career that the savings weren’t there. She said 2 other agents had written her off on previous attempts because her financial situation wasn’t straightforward at all. And she was right. But after turning the problem on it’s head, we were able to take advantage of a declining market and gain enough concessions on a property out of her price range that she was able to purchase – and permanently pay less than her rent.
THRIVE: How has Thrive supported your business?
NICK: In possibly an indescribable amount of ways. Emma is an incredible face to the company; greeting my clients, remembering their names after a single interaction, making them feel welcome while I prepare our meeting. Thrive Services and Erin have taken my single biggest headache – bookkeeping – off of my plate entirely, allowing me to focus on what actually matters in the business. The flexibility in getting my office and its growth has been enormous. All of it!
THRIVE: What recent challenge did you face?
NICK: I’m still in the process of solving it. But currently it’s that the market has changed enough that I’ve needed to re-tool the business from a 90 day pay period to about a 150 day pay period in terms of my current business. It’s taught me a lot regarding business loans, communication, and the sheer hustle of making transactions come together. They don’t just fall into place.
THRIVE: What’s your favorite piece of advice?
NICK: Don’t trip on a dollar to pick up a penny. I’m so cost conscious (cheap) it’s easy to DIY and cut out everything for me. However, my best and biggest expense has been in hiring support. The ability to trust things taken off of my plate will get done so I can focus on the bigger picture has immeasurably helped us grow.
THRIVE: What’s your favorite quote that would inspire other entrepreneurs and business leaders for 2025?
NICK: “You know that in 900 years in time and space, I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before.” – The Doctor (You never know who, how, and where your next big break is coming from. Everyone is important.)
